The Left Hand is Sufficient for Throwing a Stone
Shâdî, a 17 year old boy of the second Palestinian uprising, is lying in bed
in al-Shumaysî Hospital in Riyadh, a hospital associated with the Ministry
of Health. He was hit by a bullet that entered through the right side of his
neck and came out from his left side. He is almost paralyzed, except that
his left hand can move a little. His visitors are gathered around him. His
mother calls him from Palestine to check if he is alright. He speaks with
difficulty and tells her: “…completely paralyzed, except my left hand moves
a little.”
She gives a shrill cry to exclaim her joy and said: “Your left hand is
enough to throw stones. We want from you nothing else!”
It is the misfortune of the Jews that they must live amongst these tough
people. Their grandfathers complained against the grandfathers of these
people, who after fighting against them repeatedly, said: “If we have
nothing left but stones and dust, we will confront you with it!” Perhaps
they are but one group in a long line of people given to terrible warfare
who Allah promised would be sent out to impose their power on the Jews. The
stone fulfills the role of both a historical and Islamic symbol that
deserves considerable thought. The Qur’ân reproaches the Jews for the
hardness of their hearts, comparing their hearts with stones. Allah says:
“Thenceforth were your hearts hardened. They became like stones or even
worse in hardness…” [Sűrah al-Baqarah: 74]
Among people, there are those whose hearts are harder than stone. How else
could it be when such people shoot to kill small children, women, and
defenseless young men, aiming for their heads, throats, and hearts.
Though stones might have some moisture in them or pores through which water
may enter them so that rivers and springs may burst forth from them, you
will never find any compassion, mercy, or kindness in those hardened hearts.
When the Jews’ hatred for the Messenger (SAW) burned so fiercely that they decided to kill him, the best way they could find to do
this was to hurl a boulder upon him from the top of a building. Allah saved
him, and they returned from their attempt having earned for themselves only
the sin of their treachery and deception. And now the Muslims are avenging
their Prophet with the same weapon, but in broad daylight and without any
treachery, scheming, or deception.
What is most interesting is that the most famous stoning that ever occurred
in Islamic history was the stoning of two adulterous Jews in accordance to
what was found in their own scriptures. The Prophet carried out upon them
Allah’s Law that they had allowed to die. Thereafter, the direct relationship between the Jews and stones came to an end, only so it may
resurface in the last of all wars when the stones and trees themselves will
call out: “O Muslim, here is a Jew, so come and slay him.” Here the stones
will show their allegiance to the Muslims against the hard hearted Jews to
remind the people of that true and certain prophecy.
Today we are witnessing violence against a sacred land like the violence
that was brought to Mecca by the Companions of the Elephant, violence that
shields itself behind an arrogant power that has nothing to stand in its
way. These people today, just like those people of old, will have their
treacherous plan go astray and birds sent against them striking them with
stones of clay. The patent for this effective weapon is held exclusively by
the Muslims, and in particular, the Palestinians. The textual evidence that
is before us shows that the Israeli dream of territorial expansion is
unlikely to be realized. According to the Sunnah, the war that we are going
to fight against them will take place in the lands of Greater Syria around
the Sacred House, actually in the shade of the Sacred House. Precisely, the
battle will take place on the Jordan river with us on the East Bank and them
on the West Bank. The narrator of that hadîth definitely had no idea where
the country of Jordan would be situated today! Allah says: “When the
believers saw the confederate force, they said:
‘This is what Allah and His Messenger had promised us, and Allah and His
Messenger spoke the truth.’ And it only added to their faith and their
willingness to obey.” [Sűrah al-Ahzâb: 22]
Greater Syria is the heart of the Islamic World, and the Sacred House, with
the permission of Allah, will remain for the Muslims, even if the Jews are
victorious over it and other places today, for the Muslims will have many
divinely assisted victories. Even the Antichrist who the Jews are waiting
for, and who will have victory over the Earth, will not be able to enter
Mecca, Madinah, and the Sacred House in Jerusalem. [Ibn Abî Shaybah, Ahmad,
and al-Tabarânî with a good chain of narrators] The Messenger (SAW)
has informed us about the spoilers of Mecca and Madinah, but he has not
informed us of the spoilers of the Sacred House in Jerusalem, which will be
the final stage in the conflict with the Jews.
The battle will be an Islamic one, fueled by the forbearing young Muslims
who have no loyalties except for their religion and their Qur’ân. Then the
stone will call out with its allegiance to the Muslims, because of their
Islam, not because of their national loyalties, race, or ethnicity.
Today, Jewish rabbis are surprising the world with their overt admission of
bigotry against Islam. Rabbi Yosef – head of the Shas party, Israel’s third
largest political party which participates in the majority of that country’s
governments – describes the Arabs and Muslims as “vipers”.
Rabbi Avraham Shapira, who used to be the Chief Rabbi in Israel, says: “We
want the Jewish youth to realize that their only mission is to purify the
land of the Muslims…We must rid ourselves of them in the same way we rid
ourselves of germs and bacteria." Another former Chief Rabbi of Israel,
Mordechai Eliyahu, says in one of his sermons offered to people entering
into The Israeli Army: “The Qur’ân is our greatest and singular enemy. We
cannot fight this enemy militarily. How can peace be achieved while the
Arabs and Muslims revere a book that speaks about us in such a negative
manner? The Arab rulers much choose: either the Qur’ân or peace!”
Another says in a religious exhortation: “If the prayer call that hearkens
the Muslims to prayer five times every day continues to be heard in Cairo,Amman and Rabat, then do not talk about peace.”
Yes, there are fundamentalists, extremists, and secularists among the Jews,
just like there are among the Arabs and everyone else. But the only issues
that the Jews rally around are the Torah, religious identity, and racial
affiliation, just as the only call that the Arabs and Muslims respond to is
that of Islam and jihad.
This uprising is the best manifestation of this fact, and the hands that
throw stones at the Jews are the hands of devoted Muslims. The millions of
voices that call out from Yemen, Morocco, Egypt, Jordan and elsewhere only
call out to people who represent them and who can stand in their place,
expressing that this matter will never die and that all the suffering that
has accumulated during many long years can be dispersed in seconds. This
does not contradict the fact that this general uprising and its consequences
are a release of the pressure that the Islamic nation lives under because of
its increasingly desperate crisis. For the Palestinian people have the right
to engage in this uprising and know how to approach this duty. Now, they are
not working anymore for foreign interests, nor on account of this one or
that. They fight for their future and that of their nation and their sacred
land. With certainty, people need to be made more aware of this fact so that
the Islamic nature of this battle will be firmly established and all other
options negated.
The Muslims of every land are united with their brothers in that blessed
land. This is melting the ice between the Muslims and helping them to put
aside their old annoyances, accusations, and divisions, all of which had
been exacerbated by the Second Gulf War. Now all can rally around one cause
and face one common enemy. This is an achievement that cannot be taken
lightly.
We must build upon this achievement our resolve to provide constant support
for the uprising and to make sure that it continues. We should also build
upon it our good hospitality for our Palestinian brethren living in our
Islamic countries, granting them the opportunity to work, study, and live
honorably. We should build upon it a concern for the development, education,
support and Islamic instruction of Palestinians in all the Arab and Islamic
lands, especially those in the refugee camps in Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and
the West Bank.
We should build upon it our constant support for the Palestinians inside of
Israel. This is an important way that a considerable contribution can be
made. Moreover, it is possible to exploit the contradictions that exist in
Jewish society just like they take advantage of the contradictions that
exist within ours. Allah mentions that “…their hearts are divided. That is because they are an people who do not
understand.” [Sűrah al-Hashr: 14]
Thereafter, we will have to wrestle with another matter. How do we confront
the machinations of the Jews and support the Palestinian uprising? |
